Krishnagar Sabujayan Farmers Producer Co.Ltd. has been formed on 6 January, 2020 with its office at Bhimpur near Krishnagar in Nadia district with the primary aim of mobilizing the farmers of the area and nearby to build their capacities and collectively leverage their agriculture produces and marketing strength to foster inclusive economic growth and generate livelihood for the villagers.
Krishnagar Sabujayan Farmers Producer Co. Ltd. would likely to focus its activities mainly in four blocks of Nadia, i.e, Krishnagar-I, Krishnaganj, Chapra and Hanskhali initially and gradually expand to nearby blocks which are agriculturally prosperous. These areas have a large population of small and marginal farmers who are being invited to join as ‘share-holding’ members of the company. The farmers are being linked to input companies and markets and through the support of technical and professional institutes and efforts are being made to bring about an overall development of the farmers.
Krishnagar Sabujayan Farmers Producer Co. Ltd. intends to provide technology support to their farmer members and improve the methods of cultivation to reduce farming costs and increase their productivity and yield. The company aims to provide proper market linkages to the farmers which would likely to generate higher income. While the country is witnessing the growth of supermarket retail chains and direct marketing businesses, Krishnagar Sabujayan Farmers Producer Company would look forward to tie up with such Companies to secure direct market linkages for the farmers thereby ensuring sustainable benefits.
Krishnagar Sabujayan Farmers Producer Co. Ltd. would be assisted in its activities by Sabujayan Agriculture Producer Organisation (FPO) an NGO, set up in August 2015. The NGO will undertake socio-centric schemes in healthcare, micro-finance and vocational training for the farmers and their families. It has plans of setting up a Skill Development Academy to train rural youth in agriculture, agro-processing and agri-marketing.
